Early Ford Steering Column Support Swap

How To...  Destress, Prevent Your Fuel Tank From Leaking...
Early Ford 1928-1929 Ford Tank Mount To 1930-1931 Dash Mount

You Recon That Poblem Of A Weeping Sweaty Area at Your Steering Column Bracket? This Is a Very Common Issue For Old Ford Roadsters. As the Column Bracket Is Riveted to the Tank and The Steering Wheels Have Been Yanked On For Nearly 100 Years With People Getting In And Out. So I Desided To Fix That Issue Before It's To Late. Here's A How To Report. How I Did It...

First Get Rid Of Your Dash Rail, Unscrew all Bolts...

Done That? The Two Bolt(s) Holes To Be Used Are Exposed...

I've Made Two Steel Bars (See All Info On 1st Image of This Post)
I Welded Two M10 Threads And One M6 Countersunk.
The Other M6 Bolt Can Go Through & Through Directly.

Added The Second One...
Just To Give Some More Clearance and For Easier Mounting

I've Slighty Bend The Two Steel Bars And Drilled The Big New Bracket Holes Up To Size 10mm.
(Sorry Peops Across the Pond, We Work in Metric ) 😉

Then Mount The Steel Bars Together and Add The 1930-1931 Ford Steering Collumn Bracket. You Might Have To Pull Down On The Steering Column To Fit In The Holes...

Finally Put Back / Attach Your Dash Rail Cover And Your Done...
Your Good To Goooo!

Don't Forget To Mount The Rubber Ring / Clamp 🤘
I've Cut Off The Old Tank Support But If Yours Is Free Enough, That's Not Necessary 😎
